My Personal Story
Hello and welcome to Health Sense Coaching! I’m Rebecca, a proud mom of two little ones that keep me busy & inspire me to be my best self.
Life has it’s ways of throwing surprises at us. After the birth of my second child, I found myself feeling noticeably unwell. Suddenly, even simple things like doing Pilates, which I’d been practicing faithfully for over a decade, felt like climbing mountains. I felt fatigued, and the everyday tasks like tightening car seats and walking up stairs became surprisingly challenging.
After what felt like a hundred doctor’s appointments, I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called dermatomyositis. To say it was a shock would be an understatement. I had always tried my best to live a healthy life, and yet here I was facing an unpredictable health journey.
The news hit me hard, especially when I heard there was no cure and that the medications might not always work. It was heart-wrenching to think of a future where I might struggle to even get out of bed or lift my little ones. But you know what? I refused to let despair define me.
In those darkest moments, my love of learning kicked in, and I started delving into everything I could find about dermatomyositis and autoimmunity. I was determined to understand what caused this and, more importantly, how I could heal.
That search led me to Functional Medicine. By embracing Functional Medicine principles and modifying my lifestyle, I’m happy and grateful to share that I’ve been in remission for four years now!
This experience inspired me to enroll in the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy and become a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach. After graduation, I pursued further certification through The National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching.
I’ve been where you are, feeling the weight of health struggles and uncertain paths. But I also know the power of hope and determination. That’s why I’m here — to share the hope I found and help you on your journey to better health.
Wishing you Wellness,
Rebecca
